With
pressure mounting from angry parents and groups advocating on behalf
of children, clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch says it will
cease publication of its salacious catalog. The company has produced
the quarterly catalog featuring dozens of pictures of naked teenage-looking
models for several years. But it was its most recent issue, the "Christmas
Field Guide" extolling the virtues of group sex, that unleashed
a torrent of protest. |
 "Sex,
as we know, can involve one or two, but what about even more?"
read the ad copy under a picture of 10 naked models wading in a creek.
"The menage a trois (three way) is not an uncommon arrangement.
An orgy can involve an unlimited quantity of potential lovers. Groups
can be mixed-gender or same-sex, friendly or anonymous.''Thousands of parents phoned and e-mailed the company and its board of directors saying they would no longer let their children shop at its stores. Last week, the company pulled the Christmas catalog, which featured dozens of pages of naked or scantily clad models, including a group shot of mostly undressed models sleeping under a Christmas tree. Officials denied the move had anything to do with parents' concerns and said stores needed to make room for a new perfume. |
