Through such debased metaphors as these we might come to appreciate Koons' union with Ilona Staller: aka La Cicciolina, an Italian porn star and politician whose lack of inhibition Koons interpreted as a symbol of moral freedom and purity. As such, her appearance in Koons' sculptures and photo-works marked the ultimate consummation of his practice: the transformation of the ultimate consumer product (a human being) into a glowing object of worship.
